Wiring Diagram for Home Theater System

Wiring diagram for home theater will help you to make correct connection of all components of your home theater system. It is necessary for the transmission of high quality image and sound to the TV and speakers.

The main rule during connecting home theater components is to use the best type of compound. For video signal the best is HDMI connection, and for audio signal the best is Coaxial or Optical connection. Also, the compound should be as simple as possible. That is, for the transmission of each signal should be used as less as possible the number of wires.

In this post i want to descry two examples:
1)Wiring diagram for home theater without using AV-Receiver. This method is possible if your DVD player, Blu-ray player,  or speakers have a built-in sound amplifier.

As can bee seen on the wiring diagram, for image transmission you can use one of five ways:
1 – RCA composite video;
RCA Composite Video Cable
2 – S-Video;
S-Video Cable
3 -YPbPr component video;
YPbPr Component Video
4 – Scart;
Scart Cable
5 – HDMI;
HDMI Cable
Connection via HDMI cable is the best for high-quality image transmission.

To connect the speakers use RCA audio cable (No. 6 on wiring diagram) or other cable.

2)Wiring diagram for home theater with using AV-Receiver. AV-Receiver is an important part of a home theater system. Besides processing and sound amplification, in most cases it gets all the audio and video signals from the sources and redirects them to their destination. So, correct inclusion of AV-Receiver in the home theater system is important.

In this example, in the first all the signals are transmitted to AV-Receiver, and then to the TV and speakers.

To transmit video from the DVD to the receiver as in the previous example you can use several methods:
1 – RCA composite wire;
2 – S-Video;
3 -YPbPr component wire;
4 – HDMI;
Again the best solution is to apply HDMI out.

Next, TV should get the video signal from receiver. To do this, you need to connect the receiver to TV by one of the already known ways:
1 – RCA composite wire;
2 – S-Video;
3 -YPbPr wire;
4 – HDMI;
If your TV has an HDMI input, I recommend to use it to get great image quality.

To transmit the audio signal from DVD to the receiver, as can be seen on wiring diagram, you can also use several ways (No. 5, 6 and 7 on wiring diagram):
5 – RCA audio;
RCA Audio Cable
6 – Digital optical audio out;
Digital Optical Cable
7 – Digital coaxial audio out;
Digital Coaxial Cable
Choose digital optical connection or digital coaxial connection. They are the best for high quality sound.

Next, you need to transmit audio from receiver to home theater speakers. For this use RCA sound cable (No. 5 on wiring diagram)or other cable.

Back panels of DVDs, AV-Receivers and TVs can be different from the one i used in wiring diagram for home theater. In most cases they differ visually, but principle of connection is similar.
